Fans are about to see Elizabeth McCord's (Téa Leoni) final outing in Madam Secretary Season 6 as she leaves her position as the Secretary of the State to run for the presidency. Bess will be going on a new political adventure as she is about to begin her campaign for the upcoming election.

Elizabeth has been thoroughly thinking of her plan to be the next president of the United States. After weighing her options, Lizzie announced her resignation, left her post, and launched her presidential campaign that would continue in Madam Secretary Season 6.

"We've always been about pulling back the curtain on the State Department and showing the process of diplomacy," co-creator Barbara Hall said in an interview with TVLine. "So this is going to be pulling back the curtain on a campaign and everything that that involves."

Madam Secretary Season 6 will be the show's final bow. According to CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl, it will be a 10-episode farewell run that will tie all of the storyline's loose ends. "We liked to be able to do this, to send show them off with a great deal of respect and celebration," he said.

However, there are some questions surrounding Madam Secretary Season 6. Some people feel surprised that the show lasted six seasons on its Sunday time slot as it seems to be where all CBS programs end. It all began with CSI: MiamiThe Mentalist, and now Madam Secretary Season 6.

Television critic Matt Roush explained, via TV Insider, whenever CBS moves a show to that Sunday lineup, it is said to be "no longer considered as a player." Although the network is not trying to kill the show-off, in Madam Secretary's case, it seems quite protected by airing in the late hour.

He continued to say the expectations about the series were not as high as the time when it was airing directly after 60 Minutes. It also seems to be a bit of an "outlier" on CBS's procedural-filled shows schedule.

Anyhow, Kahl revealed they are now excited to put an end to Elizabeth's story in Madam Secretary Season 6, per The Wrap. CBS wants to give the show a proper ending, concerning its writers and viewers. As they work very hard to pull off the political drama and get people to invest to it, they like to end the show with a "great deal of respect and appreciation."

CBS has yet to announce when Madam Secretary Season 6 will hit the small screens, but there are assumptions it will be out later this year. It will remain on its Sunday schedule every 10 p.m.
