If it were up to Viola Davis, she'd play Annalise Keating even after How to Get Away With Murder season 6. The star, who is currently promoting her new project on a documentary series about diabetes, said that she isn't done playing the lawyer.

"I think that Annalise Keating has more in her," Davis told Today in an interview. At that time, the show was still on the bubble with ABC after the finale of season 5.

Davis also echoed her desire to keep playing Keating on How to Get Away With Murder. The actress told CNN that she's definitely down to reprise her character if ABC is still interested.

The network did confirm their interest when it renewed How to Get Away With Murder season 6 last May 10. The show will be back on its Thursday programming block in the fall of 2019, as per the press release.

Contrary to other reports, How to Get Away With Murder is the number one show in the Thursday time block among women viewers between the ages of 18-43. It has been a consistent performer for the last five seasons.

Meanwhile, How to Get Away with Murder season 6 will be expected to tie up the loose ends that the fifth season left viewers with. As per ABC, the show has to come back for the next installment to explain the cliffhangers.

How to Get Away With Murder season 5 saw Nate (played by Billy Brown) growing suspicious of Xavier (played by Gerardo Celasco after the latter painstakingly asked for the case from Nate. Laurel (played by Karla Souza), on the other hand, has finally realized that her father might have a hand in all the trouble that they had to pacify.

Ron Miller (played by John Hensley) is still hoping to get exonerated for the death of Nate's father. Delfino (played by Charles Webber) also has his suspicions about Xavier's role in this death.

Emmet (played by Timothy Hutton) has been released from FBI custody. However, a few hours later, he's on the floor and potentially poisoned at his office. The finale wrapped with Annalise receiving gratitude from Xavier for her help but moments later, they found out that Laurel has gone missing.

How to Get Away With Murder season 6 is expected to premiere in late September or early October 2019. ABC should have a confirmed date announced by July or August.
