With a mound of speculations surrounding the Apple WWDC 2019 earlier, very few speculated that the Apple Airpods will get new impressive features this year. Many tech analysts failed to anticipate that Apple will do something to this humble piece of listening tool. As announced earlier today, Apple is slowly transforming its Apple Airpods into a smart and wireless headphone.

SiriKit

The first new feature that the Apple Airpods is getting this year is the ability to not only read messages as soon as the notification comes in but also to respond to these messages seamlessly. With the SiriKit paired on the device, your message can now be read and with a brief pause will allow you to respond to it without the need to trigger Siri. This new feature will be available regardless if you are using a third party messaging service of that of Apple's.

Share a Song

Sharing audio is also coming to the audio ecosystem of the Cupertino-based tech titan this year. If you and your friend both have a pair of Apple Airpods, you now simply have to tap both of your phones and you will be able to listen to the same audio using your individual Apple Airpods. It is with the same level as SiriKit, so it is not exclusive only to Apple app but also to third party apps. While many tech experts would like to see more from the Apple Airpods, these latest features offer great conveniences.

HomePod

In addition to the Apple Airpods latest smart features Apple is also adding a new feature to HomePod. This year, Homepod gets the Handoff support, which means that you can swiftly share any audio or song playing on your phone into a room by simply moving your device close to the HomePod. The device will instantly pick up the audio and start playing it.

You can also take your device back by using the same gesture. However, the Cupertino-based tech titan never mentioned how this new feature will be possible in more than a single still image. But it looks like a handy feature that will allow you to easily get your songs when you are in a hurry.

According to the Cupertino tech giant, these new features namely the SiriKit, Share A Song, as well as the Handoff on HomePod will be included in the iOS 13. The highly anticipated feature is set to roll out in September 2019.
