GameStop Ireland surprised many gamers when it listed "Final Fantasy VII Remake" to release in Microsoft Xbox One contrary to the popular speculation that the popular title will be released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive game. The speculations about the release of the highly anticipated title have been rampant online. However, the recent listing and leaks appear to have added the necessary details indicating of the title's imminent release in the first quarter of 2020.

Latest Listing

"Final Fantasy VII Remake" like all other popular titles has been the center of many rumors and speculations since Square Enix announced the game. In May, the much-awaited title released its first gameplay several months after the game developer's hiatus from releasing any information related to the game. But, the gameplay further fanned the flame of rumors with several fans claiming that the game will be released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive game.

But, GameStop Ireland listed "Final Fantasy VII Remake" for release in Microsoft Xbox One platform. This disproves the previous speculations that the game will only be available in one platform. Additionally, the listing could be an indication that the game could be on its way.

There is also a chance that one of the employees of GameStop Ireland mistakenly keyed in the title "Final Fantasy VII Remake" for something else. However, it is worth noting that GameStop has a long history of accidental listings over the years, the majority of which turned out to be accurate. Fans, therefore, must take this kind of news with a grain of salt.

Impending Q1 2020 Release

Kotaku game writer Jason Schreier recently shared on his Twitter account that "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will be released in the first half or 2020 according to his sources. The game writer further revealed that the game will be released along with heavy hitters such as "The Last of Us Part II," "Cyberpunk 2077," an unannounced AAA title, "Ghost of Tsushima," and a game which George R.R Martin was one of the consultants.

So far, Square Enix has not yet announced any platforms for "Final Fantasy VII Remake" except in PlayStation 4 but it is also worth noting that it has not stated that the game will be an exclusive PS4 title. The Final Fantasy series was released in Xbox One, and other platforms, so there is a great possibility that it will be released in various platforms including the hybrid console Nintendo Switch.
