Levy Tran is going to be a series regular on MacGyver season 4. The actress, who joined the show in the middle of season 3 as Desi Nguyen, is going to be a permanent addition to the series.

As confirmed on Deadline, Tran has been promoted as a regular cast member in MacGyver season 4 after her seven-episode appearance in the third season. She was brought in as a replacement for George Eads (as Jack Dalton) who dropped out of the series to focus on his family.

Tran's promotion comes as no surprise, however, as her brief appearance in MacGyver season 3 has instantly made her a fan favorite. The actress acknowledged her new status on Instagram and thanked her co-stars and the show's writers and producers for another opportunity.

Production for MacGyver season 4, however, has not yet started. The season premiere has been pushed back, and CBS has not included the series in its Fall 2019 TV schedule for Friday evenings. The upcoming installment will also have a shorter run with 13 episodes.

Executive Producer Peter M. Lenkov confirmed on Twitter that the show would be returning at a later date than its usual fall premiere. He hinted that MacGyver season 4 could begin airing in January 2020.

"When I did 24 we premiered in January I believe, so I know shows can be successful in the winter - not just fall. For me though...I don't care when we premiere...as long as we premiere," the producer said.

Work on the set, however, will proceed as usual in July until December with a new showrunner working with Lenkov. Terry Matalas has replaced Craig O'Neill as the co-showrunner for MacGyver season 4.

It's still unclear at this point if MacGyver season 4 would be back in its Friday schedule. The reboot might be a replacement for the new dramas that CBS has ordered for this season, which won't get additional episodes.

MacGyver debuted on CBS in 2016 as a reboot of the original '80s series. The show features Lucas Till in the titular role as a younger version of the secret U.S. operative who has this extraordinary ability to solve cases using science. The show also stars Tristan Mays as Riley Dives, Justin Hires as Wilt Bozer, and Meredith Eaton as Matty Webber.
