Many fans are, now, thrilled for the upcoming release of Sherlock Season 5 even if BBC has not yet confirmed the show's renewal. Since no specific details about the yet-to-be-confirmed installment made available until now, some avid followers of the popular British crime drama television series based on Sherlock Holmes' detective stories.

Previous reports suggested that BBC could not confirm Sherlock Season 5 due to the hectic schedule of the series creators and its main cast. There were, also, claims saying that the conflict between Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman is one of the reasons why the yet-to-be-confirmed fifth installment had been delayed.

To recall, amid the Sherlock Season 5 renewal rumors, Benedict disagreed with Martin's statement saying that the show is not fun anymore because of its interference of the fans, specifically in the creative process. The idea about Sherlock and John H. Watson being gay did not sit well with the 47-year-old English actor-comedian. The Doctor Strange star, however, stated that it is not fair to blame fans since they are one of the primary reasons why their show was given a chance to air for four seasons.

While Benedict Cumberbatch, already, announced his interest in returning to portray the iconic role again, he does not have enough time to work on Sherlock Season 5 at the moment. As a matter of fact, the 42-year-old English actor is now filming for The Time Traveler's Wife.

Series creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, previously, expressed their interest to do Sherlock Season 5. However, it seems like Dracula is, currently, taking up a lot of their time right now. "We've never necessarily said goodbye to Sherlock. No, we'll see!" Steven told Radio Times. "One thing at a time. [Our new show] Dracula occupies a lot of headspace," Mark added.

Despite this, Mark expressed his thoughts about the fate of the show via his official Facebook account.  In gest, the series creator said he considers the first four installments are the first chapter of the show and that there is more coming up, hinting that Sherlock Season 5 is very much likely to happen. "Dr. Watson is now Doyle's brave widower, and Sherlock Holmes has become the wise and humane version of the main run of the stories (we've focused, so far, on the cold Holmes of the early days.)" he wrote. Mark shared that the second chapter would center on "our boys consciously living the myth and battling wrong-doers."

No official premiere date for the yet-to-be-confirmed fifth installment has been announced up to this writing. There are also rumors saying that Robert Downey, Jr. might join Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Season 5 since the Avengers: The Endgame star will also appear in Sherlock Holmes 3 movie.
