Something is not right with Angela (played Emily Deschanel) in Animal Kingdom season 4 and Smurf (played by Ellen Barkin) is right not to trust her inside their home. In the next episode set to air on Tuesday, June 25, Angela will realize that her stay at the Cody family's house may be in jeopardy.
According to the episode synopsis for Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 5, Pope (played by Shawn Hatosy) will figure out where his mother has been. Now, whatever he learns will supposedly rock Angela's status in the Cody household. Could this mean that Smurf may have found some answers as to why Angela has suddenly come to their lives?
It's not easy to trust Angela. Something about her appears off when she tries to manipulate the Pope by teasing and telling him that she always had a crush on him. Angela also asks too many questions and is more than your usual nosy person. There are strong indications that Angela could be a snitch for the cops and Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 5 seems to be the beginning of the end for the character. Angela's agenda will soon unravel.
Angela was introduced in Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 2 as the former best friend of Julia, the mother of J (played by Finn Cole). She has been with the Cody family before and has taken care of J like an aunt, but Angela paid her dues in prison. Could it be possible that she made some deal with the authorities? Does Smurf figure this out in Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 5?
"To not be liked by Smurf is very hard," Deschanel said of her character in an interview with TV Insider. "But Ellen Barkin is one of my idols, so to be near her and watch her work has been a dream come true."
Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 5 is titled "Reap" and, based on the preview, Smurf is demanding money from her sons. It's possible she's collecting her cut from the successful heist that the Cody boys went through. Does Smurf deserve to reap from this? Following her cancer diagnosis, Smurf's been behaving in the most unusual manner. How will this impact the family further?
