The anticipation for The Winds of Winter novel remains high despite the fact that it has been delayed over and over again. George R.R. Martin first talked about the sixth A Song of Ice and Fire book during the official launch of A Dance with Dragons in 2011. However, up until now, the veteran author has not completed the book yet.

Details about the official release date of The Winds of Winter are still limited as of late. This, then, pushed some avid followers of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series to create theories and speculations about the much-awaited novel. Now, reports suggest that George R.R. Martin could publish the novel earlier than expected.

Daily Express shared that some bookmakers on 22Bets have predicted that The Winds of Winter could arrive before the year ends. The outlet claimed that there are 2.7 positive chances that George R.R. Martin would drop the highly anticipated novel earlier than what he, previously, stated. This, according to the book makers, is because GRRM is almost done with the sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series.

Earlier this month, George R.R. Martin said that he plans to finish The Winds of Winter by July 29, 2020. "I tell you this - if I don't have THE WINDS OF WINTER in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I'm done," the brain behind the successful Game of Thrones series wrote in his Not A Blog blog. "Just so long as the acrid fumes do not screw up my old DOS word processor, I'll be fine," GRRM went on.

In 2017, George R.R. Martin shared that The Winds of Winter is likely to hit the bookshelves in "late 2018 or early 2019." However, it seems like the 70-year-old American writer was not able to meet his own deadline. This is the very reason why some of his devoted followers are no convinced that he would be releasing the novel before July 2020, especially with his many commitments and hectic schedule.

George R.R. Martin has yet to comment on this newest prediction about the official TWOW release. The veteran author, previously, criticized the news website that spread fake news about the publication of the much-awaited novel ad encouraged fans to only wait for his official announcements.
