In The Dark season 2 is returning on The CW. The hour-long drama about a blind woman who tries to solve the murder of her friend has been renewed early in its first season debut.
According to Variety, The CW has renewed In The Dark season 2 with just three episodes airing for the first season last April. The show has recently wrapped up when episode 13 aired last Thursday, June 27.
The finale episode of In The Dark season 1 revealed some shocking twists that have warranted a second season. For one thing, the fate of Jules (played by Saycon Sengbloh) has viewers wondering if she'll be back for In The Dark season 2.
It's also unclear what will happen to Chloe (played by Calle Walton). Is she going to be written out of the series in In The Dark season 2?
As for Jess (played by Brooke Markham) and Felix (played by Morgan Krantz), they've got enough money to use for Guiding Hope. Murphy (played by Perry Mattfeld), on the other hand, was able to figure out who killed her friend.
In The Dark was created by Corrine Kingsbury and was greenlighted to series in May 2018. Casting Mattfeld in the lead role, however, was met with some criticisms because she's not a blind person.
The actress, however, said in an interview with Collider that they had worked hard to make the show as authentic as possible. They have a blind consultant on the set in Lorri Benson.
"I spent a lot of time with her in her house. It became a research project for me. I spent a lot of time with her, just watching her get ready for bed, do her morning routine, and cook in her kitchen," Mattfeld said. "I learned how she uses her iPhone on the audio settings. I learned how to use a guide dog and worked with her guide dog. I learned how to use a cane."
Mattfeld also hopes that after watching In The Dark season 1, viewers will come to love the character as much as did. Though Murphy is flawed and imperfect, it's what makes the character resonate in real life.
In The Dark season 2 will likely return in The CW roster for the first half of 2020.
