Fear The Walking Dead season 5 is teasing what fans have been speculating for a while now. It looks like the show is preparing to introduce the rescue of Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) to connect with The Walking Dead universe yet again.
As viewers saw in the previous episodes of Fear the Walking Dead season 5, Al (played by Maggie Grace) was taken by a helicopter with the same symbols like the one that also took Rick in his final moments in The Walking Dead season 9. In Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 4, which aired on Sunday, June 23, Al's group has been staunchly searching for her, and there's a good chance they might find Rick as well.
At least that's what actor Ruben Blades (as Daniel Salazar) wants to happen. Speaking with TV Guide, Blades said that he thinks this will be part of the plot of the upcoming Rick Grimes movie.
"If there's anyone who would be in the movie with Rick, it would be Al," the actor said. "[But] I hope they sneak Salazar in there to go rescue Al."
Following Rick's absence on The Walking Dead, and Lincoln's departure from the long-running show, AMC announced that it would do another spinoff. This time, it will be a movie trilogy featuring the character. Production for this project has been reportedly planned for this summer with the first film out by 2020.
However, before that has to happen, Fear the Walking Dead season 5 could feature the Rick crossover, too. Based on the timeline of events, the show's current season takes place eight months after Rick has been flown away from his group.
Meanwhile, the upcoming episode of Fear the Walking Dead season 5, which airs on Sunday, June 30, will have Al going after a story that threatens her life, per the episode synopsis. Her group's mission to help her, however, puts them all in a challenging test.
In other news, franchise creator Robert Kirkman confirmed that The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will have a panel in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. Set at Hall H on Friday, July 19, this year's panel has not yet been revealed, but fans hope to see Grace and Lennie James (Morgan) representing Fear the Walking Dead.
