The world's 8th largest bank by total assets, BNP Paribas,  present across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, appointed Hong Kong-based Chaoni Huang in a newly created role as Head of Sustainable Capital Markets, Global Markets for the Asia Pacific.

BNP Paribas needs a dedicated position to create greater synergy with different DCM teams in the region and the French bank's globally sustainable capital markets team.

BNP Paribas made headlines in 2018 when the bank placed some EUR 6.3 billion in green bonds worldwide making them the 3rd most active bank in the world that issued green bonds.

BNP Paribas also allocated last year a total of EUR 168 billion in financing and investment to companies in sectors that are directly contributing to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Knowing the "importance of sustainable capital markets" and its growth worldwide and "more so in the Asia Pacific," the banking giant is confident that "With her experience in sustainable finance and involvement with ESG-related issues in the region," her appointment "will further cement our leading position in sustainable finance markets in Asia."

Ms. Huang's more than 12 years of professional experience helped her land her current role. She came from Natixis where she was Executive Director, Green and Sustainable Solutions, APAC for two years.

Her insights and strong experience in sustainable finance were also honed by being the head of business development at S&P Trucost for four years and another four years as a senior analyst for Morgan Stanley Capital Investment.

Currently, Ms. Huang is also Vice President and Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Green Finance Association that offers opportunities for green finance development. She is also a guest researcher for the China Economy and Sustainable Development Centre at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

Ms. Huang, who holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, proves BNP Parida's commitment to developing products and services for a more inclusive and sustainable global economy.

Ms. Huang is now charge of sustainable finance solutions for investors, corporates and financial institutions in the region while focusing on securitization, primary and asset finance.
