Doctor Doctor season 4, the Australian drama series, also known as The Heart Guy in other territories, is in the middle of production. The cast and crew have been busy working in their Sydney set to prepare for the premiere that's set to launch in late 2019.
Nine Network confirmed in late April that the cameras have started rolling for Doctor Doctor season 4, per TV Black Box. Rodger Corser returns to reprise his role as the Dr. Hugh Knight, the heart surgeon who is both charming to patients and a rebel to his co-workers.
When viewers last saw the enigmatic heart guy in Doctor Doctor season 3, he was trying to save his family farm while serving probation at Whyhope. Dr. Knight is so conflicted between his family or his career that he could self-destruct at any moment and break what he has built for himself.
In Doctor Doctor season 4, Dr. Knight will deal with new characters played by Dustin Clare, Kate Jenkinson, and Robyn Nevin. The network hasn't disclosed what roles they will play, but viewers should expect there will be tons of conflict and tension yet.
But the new season will also bring back familiar faces. Confirmed to return on Doctor Doctor season 4 are Nicole da Silva (Charlie), Chloe Bayliss (Hayley), Ryan Johnson (Matt), Belinda Bromilow (Betty), Tina Bursill (Meryl), Matt Castley (Ajax), Hayley McElhinney (Penny), Miranda Tapsell (April) and Charles Wu (Ken).
Debuting in September 2016 in Australia and some parts of Asia, Doctor Doctor centers on a gifted and brilliant surgeon who is also quite the hedonist. But Dr. Knight doesn't always get away with his charming antics.
In the earlier seasons of Doctor Doctor, Dr. Knight was forced to relocate because of his failings at work. That's why he ended up working in a provincial town as the GP of a hospital with less than stellar facilities. Returning to his hometown also reunited him with his former sweetheart, the colleagues he had avoided a lot of times, and his jealous brothers.
Meanwhile, Corser teased in an interview that the story on Doctor Doctor season 4 should experience a bit of shift when it comes to the romance between Matt, April, and Charlie. The actor said that this would be the new love triangle this season after the drama between Hugh and Penny. However, there might be a baby coming for the Knights.
