A lot of fans have been patiently waiting for the release of The Winds of Winter. The upcoming sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series had been delayed many times over. Now, there are reports saying that the TWOW release date might be pushed further.

Speaking with The Guardian earlier this month, George R.R. Martin revealed the reasons why The Winds of Winter might not hit the book shelves anytime soon yet. The 70-year-old American novelist revealed that stress affected his writing on many levels. He revealed that the pressure the show put on him did nothing good since it slowed him down.

"Every day I sat down to write and even if I had a good day - and a good day for me is three or four pages - I'd feel terrible because I'd be thinking: 'My God, I have to finish the book,'" George R.R. Martin divulged when asked about an update about the forthcoming The Winds of Winter novel. "I've only written four pages when I should have written 40.' But having the show finish is freeing, because I'm at my own pace now," the author went on.

George R.R. Martin added that the pressure, also, affected his way of living. The veteran writer divulged that he could no longer go to fan parties after the Game of Thrones television series became a huge success. Avid followers of The Winds of Winter author are aware of how he used to sustain a tight-knit community of affectionate followers.

The brain behind the A Song of Ice and Fire book series even stated that going out to normal places such as bookstores became very hard for him. George R.R. Martin said he could not stay in one specific place for several hours since most of the followers can recognize him within 10 minutes, creating a crowd a few minutes later. Despite this, GRRM remained positive that he would be able to finish The Winds of Winter in the future.

Meanwhile, other reports suggested that one of the primary reasons behind the tome's delay is its complex storyline. Speculations suggested that the forthcoming sixth volume of A Song of Ice and Fire book series would have 25 to 20 point of view characters. This, according to rumors, is also the reason why George R.R. Martin is having a hard time finishing The Winds of Winter book, unlike his other novels.

George R.R. Martin has not yet released an official release date for the highly-anticipated novel. However, he, previously, claimed that it would be released on or before July 2020. Stay tuned to Business Times for more The Winds of Winter news, spoilers, news, and updates!
