Arthdal Chronicle secret scene
# 1 The tribe Wahan's Pretty Waterfront-The place where Eunsum (Song Joong-gi) and Tanya (Kim Jiwon) made spiritual dance.
In the episode of Arthdal Chronicle, the scene of Eunsum and Tanya together on the beautiful lakeside was fantastically expressed while blending with the dreamy background. To prepare for the ritual, two characters found a beautiful waterfront, wearing make-up, they performed a spiritual dance of the tribe Wahan. The dance produced mysterious and happy feelings. The 'Pretty Waterfront' used the image data in advance to create a concept. Based on this, only the rock was set up to let two people stand in an indoor studio, and the entire background was synthesized by CG. The actual producer and the VFX team directly sourced the beautiful space in Thailand, scanned it with special equipment, implemented the place with the data, and expressed the delicate parts of ancient nature.
# 2 Sea of Tears-Desert passing by from the Iarc to the Great Black Wall
Before Iark's Wahans climb up the Great Black Wall to Arthdal, the desert that they should pass is a sea of tears. The sea of tears seems to explode anger when the Wakan tribe is dragged surrounded by smoke bursts following the Daekahn riding horses in the front. The sea of tears was also completed by shooting the actual foreign terrain as a source. The film was made by visiting the Danakil Desert, which is called the death land of Ethiopia in Africa, and later synthesizing it with the scenes of the actors' chromakey shots. When shooting real terrain as a source, the quality is much higher when synthesized with CG later, so the more difficult scene uses this technique.
# 3 The Great Wall and Elevator-An elevator built to move up and down between great black walls separate Arthdal and Iarc.
It was a scene where the crew of Arthdal Chronicles said it was the most difficult to express visual effects, but the reactions of the viewers were the hottest and overwhelmingly positive: the Great Black Wall and the Great Black Wall Elevator. The huge black wall, the boundary between Arthdal and Iark, was created by a CG that uses real-world cliff data of Jeju Island, Thailand, etc. The Great Black Wall Elevator was highly praised for expressing the realistic feeling of floating in the air, the fear of climbing up the high cliff, and the sense of speed. This scene was made with only a wooden elevator being created and the rest was done with CG work using the chroma key, and only the top of the Great Black Wall where the terraced terrain formed in a forest of Jangheung, and where the Targon appears in majesty, was created with installed elevator artificially and was synthesized by CG with the rest of the background.
# 4 Fall's Judgment: 'Waterfall Judgment' thrown by Eunsum to be recognized for the Inashingi Second Coming.
In the 16th episode of Arthdal Chronicle, Eunsum said that he met Inai-Shingi in his dream by being influenced by Ipsaeng (Kim Sung-chul) 's plan to live in the Argo. The Argo said they would believe that if he survived the 'Judgment of the Fall', which only one survives in a thousand years. Eunsum was thrown to the fall with no hesitance. The scene utilizes the rivers and terrain of Bali and Brunei, combined with waterfall source footage taken in Ethiopia, creating a massive waterfall. In addition, the indoor underwater set was taken separately from the water, and for the realism that falls from the waterfall, the images that were hung on the trees were captured using chroma key, and then synthesized and implemented in CG.
# 5 and many more
Arth continent seen along the wide mountain range that appeared in the first opening of the "Arthdal Chronicles '' is Romania, located on the Balkan Peninsula. Where Asahon (Chu Jahyun), a mother of Eunsum lived, is a waterfall of Thailand. Horse chasing scenes were filmed in the vast grasslands of Naju Plains. The forests where Tagon and Taalha congregated was field in Jeju Island. Like this, there are many parts completed by CG work using real terrain as source. And the CG was used as an important technique to make the number of a federation army look larger.
The production team said, "The 'Arthdal Chronicles' had to express non-existing and imaginative world into a reality. Not only CG, but also the outstanding acting power of actors who had to perform in Chromakey version did a great job." I hope the CGs and various locations have played a positive role in creating drama's attractiveness. "
