Actress Jung Yu Mi and actor Gong Yoo expressed their conviction amid the controversy over the movie "Kim Ji Young: Born 1982."

On September 30, the production report of the movie was held at the Lotte Cinema in Seoul. The director Kim Do-young, actress Jung-mi Yoo and Gong Yoo attended the meeting and talked honestly about the film.

'Kim Ji Young:Born 1982' describes the story that no one knows of the main character Kim who lives in 2019. Based on the novel already published, the movie points out the problem of gender discrimination that is invisible even now.

Because of the topic, the movie was caught in a lot of interest and debate. As the novel itself received the attention due to its feminism at the center, the filmmaking of the novel sparked the debate again as the highlighted topic of the society. 

In addition, Jung Yu-mi and Gong Yoo announced that they would play in the movie, which drew even more attention, a mixture of positive and negative reactions.

Much interested was gathered at the scene of the production report. First of all, director Kim Do-young said, "I had been concerned and burdened seriously to find ways to create the film to convey the original novel which threw a heated topic to the society. I thought it was a story that should be done. It is meaningful and valuable to create this story in the framework of the commercial film."

Jung Yu Mi said, "I only knew that it was a hot topic. I came to know the story by reading the movie scenario. I met the director and decided to go ahead with this movie. However, there were many issues. 

I thought it was our job to transfer the story to the movie." She added, " I chose this story and I wanted to make it together, so I didn't have much pressure. I was not very worried about the controversy because I was focused on creating the film and sharing it. "

"In fact, I did not marry and did not raise children. So, rather than having an empathy with the character, I thought a lot of people around me. I might have neglected them because of my busy life and I felt sorry. I felt a bit ashamed of myself reflecting the movie."

Jung Yu Mi's husband Gong Yoo also said, "I came to know this story through the scenario." He said, "I thought a lot about my family. I cried quite a bit as I read the scenario. I could sympathize with 'Dae Hyun' in the story deeply and came to make up my mind to play in the movie." "I became very emotional reading the story and thought about my mother personally. I realized how much she suffered to raise me, which I never seriously considered." 

He also said, "I have read related articles, but that didn't matter for a decision. I wouldn't have been here if there was a problem." The actor continued,  "I read a good book and the present debate didn't really interfere with my role and work. I think there are always differences. Right and wrong, that's not what I can say. "

The movie 'Kim Ji Young: Born 1982 ', which is about to be released, is still in a heated controversy. However, the two artists consider all of these things are just differences in viewpoints. They keep their own beliefs and support the film firmly.

Can their sincerity reach many audiences waiting for the movie? It will be released in October.
