When Prince Harry was still a bachelor, he was famously dubbed as the “royal bad boy” since he seemed to enjoy the party life a little bit too much. While Prince William settled down and got himself ready for his role as the future king of England, the younger son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana lived his life to the fullest as if he didn’t have a royal title.
Being the second in line to the throne, Prince William has more serious royal duties than Prince Harry. However, that doesn’t mean that the younger prince is not obliged to complete his obligations.
Unfortunately, Prince Harry felt that he couldn’t handle having a royal title and wanted to strip it off him. But, he eventually decided to stay when he realized that he wanted to have a purpose. “I felt I wanted out but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself,” the Duke of Sussex told royal expert Angela Levin two years ago.
With that revelation, many feared that Prince Harry might have threatened the stability of the monarchy. However, royal commentator Sarah Gristwood said that it wasn’t the case. “No – That’s been a tiny bit misunderstood. I’m not at all sure he was wise to speak as he did. But the fact is the Royal Family – the Queen particularly – have always seen their role, and particularly the Sovereign’s job in terms of duty,” she said.
However, Gristwood did note that Prince Harry’s statement was a risk as it could “raise questions about the functions of the Royal Family.” This could also open up discussions about what would happen if the Duke of Sussex did decide not to be a prince anymore. Will there be penalties?
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is over his partying ways and is now a doting dad to his and Meghan Markle’s firstborn, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are giving royal fans a behind-the-scenes look at their 10-day tour in Africa in the upcoming documentary "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” where the promo showed the royal couple share a sweet moment with their baby boy.
Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie back in May, and the Duchess of Sussex is quickly being bombarded with pregnancy rumors again. Prince Harry and his wife had been open with having a bigger family, which started all the speculations that the couple is not wasting any time in giving Archie a sibling.
