The city of Foshan in China's Guangdong Province is making massive headway in its drive to form closer ties with Germany and its major cities. In the coming days, the city has prepared a slew of events aimed at forging new relations and cooperation with its European partner.

Foshan is one of the most active members of the Sino-German Industrial City Alliance, an initiative that was formed to foster industrial cooperation between China and Germany. A direct result of the initiative has been the establishment of the Sino-German Industrial Services Zone located in Foshan's Sanlongwan area.

Since its establishment in 2012, the services zone has become home to more than 100 projects, helping the city fulfill its ambition of becoming a global leader in manufacturing innovation. In an announcement late last week, the management committee of the services zone announced that they will be working together with their German partners to organize the upcoming China (Guangdong) International Internet Plus Exposition.

The expo will be held from October 16 to October 19 in Fosha in a joint pavilion with an area of around 300 square meters. During the event, the committee will be releasing new information regarding the new strategies, planning, construction, and development of the services zone. Updates will also be given regarding the progress made by the Sino-German Industrial City Alliance during the event.

The updates will include the Sino-German Industrial City Alliance's first annual report on the economic cooperation between Germany and China. The latest achievements in bilateral cooperation between both nations will also be showcased as well as forecasts for future developments.

The event will also serve as the venue for the alliance's eighth general meeting. The Sino-German Industrial City Alliance's members currently include a total of 23 Chinese cities, including Foshan, and 20 cities in Germany.

According to officials, more than 32 major European companies, half of which will be from Germany, will be attending the event. The companies will be exhibiting their services, products, and solutions to hopefully forge new partnerships and projects with local players in various industries.

Prior to the main expo, the management committee of the Sino-German Industrial Services Zone will be holding a seminar on the topic of cooperation in intelligent manufacturing for new and existing Sino-German partnerships and joint ventures.

The seminar will be co-organized by the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVIE). The German association revealed that more than 20 companies will be attending the seminar, most of which are looking into finding new cooperation partners.
