Netizens who have posted malicious comments and spread rumors beyond the limit were handed over to the prosecution.
This move is related to K-Pop star Song Hye-kyo. The Police Station in Bundang announced on October 15th that two netizens were sent to the prosecution in response to charges of alleged defamation and insults under the Information and Communications Network Act.
The two are accused of defamation and insults caused by false reports.
The first person was accused of defaming Song's reputation by misrepresenting Song Hye Kyo's divorce saying, "The cause of Song's divorce is in Chinese influential sponsor."
The second person who was sued said in an Internet article that Song is a devil that swallows man. He insulted Song Hye Kyo with malicious descriptions about the actress.
Earlier, Song Hye-kyo's agency filed a lawsuit against 15 people's IDs who posted hate comments and spread false rumors.
The police also said, "13 of these IDs have already been withdrawn from the site, so only two of them, whose identity was discovered, were sent to the prosecution."
