Oliver (played by Stephen Amell) is heading to Hong Kong in the next episode of Arrow season 8. He will have John Diggle (played by David Ramsey) and Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy Rodgers) as his companions when they travel to time and space to save mankind.
Oliver's trips are going to be crucial now that the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossovers have officially begun in the Arrow-verse. Arrow season 8 episode 2, titled "Welcome to Hong Kong," will find Oliver and his group seeking out an important person who ties with the plans of The Monitor (played by LaMonica Garrett).
The Monitor predicted the earth's destruction, including its parallel universes, in Arrow season 7. Hence, Oliver left Star City to try to stop this from happening.
Per the episode synopsis, Arrow season 8 episode 2 will also feature the return of Tatsu (played by Rila Fukushima), who last appeared in the fifth season. Is she the one they are looking for?
Unfortunately, Oliver witnessed Earth-2 exploding to nothingness before his eyes in Arrow season 8 episode 1, which aired on Oct. 15. Tragically, as The Monitor said, the anti-matter will usher a devastating effect in the universe and this is just the beginning.
As seen from the premiere episode of Arrow season 8, Oliver traveled to Earth-2 where his other self has been presumed dead for the last 12 years. Things in Earth-2 are also a lot different from Oliver's original world but he needed Diggle and Laurel's help. So, he convinced them to go with him to Earth-1 to fight The Monitor.
Before they could leave, however, particles of the anti-matter penetrated Earth-2 and Oliver wasn't able to stop its effects. In the teaser to the next episode, Earth-2 Laurel is seen telling Oliver that there is no way her home planet is completely gone. The clip also showed that Oliver and his team will encounter some bad guys upon arriving in Hong Kong in Arrow season 8 episode 2.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Arrow season 8 will find Oliver away from his city for this major event. He will be traveling to different places and will encounter previous characters he saved, worked with, or fought before.
Arrow season 8 airs every Tuesday night on The CW. The final season will have 10 episodes.
