It remains to be a big mystery who among the royal family members are closest to Queen Elizabeth II. Rumors have it the monarch doesn't have a good relationship with the late Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, and Meghan Markle. Surprisingly, there are claims she gets along well with Prince Edward's wife, Sophie Wessex.

Sophie accompanied the Queen when that latter went to St. Magdalene Church while at Sandringham. When she helped the monarch to smooth a Tartan blanket on her lap, it seemed to be a subtle hint that the Countess of Wessex is the sovereign's favorite daughter-in-law.

Aside from enjoying Sophie's company, The Sun revealed Queen Elizabeth knows she is someone she can trust. When things went wrong when Sophie was only newly married to Prince Edward, she insisted on continuing her work in public relations.

A senior royal told the publication that Queen Elizabeth trusts and relies on Sophie, far different from the way she counts on either Kate or Camilla Parker Bowles. They are too close that she is like Her Majesty's own daughter.

Queen Elizabeth also commends Sophie's marriage to her son, while her other children's relationships failed. She praises the countess' dedication to their vow, knowing how tricky Prince Edward can be.

In fact, in the early days of their marriage, Sophie did everything to conform to the royal family. She set herself a series of tasks, like learning how to ride properly, to fish, to shoot game, and even driving a carriage.

Sophie was not a natural rider. So, she underwent a lot of lessons from the grooms at Windsor. However, she could now manage to accompany Queen Elizabeth in "gentle hacks" around the Balmoral estate or Windsor Great Park.

Despite being a junior member of the royal family, Sophie shows her dedication to be a good duchess and family woman. She raised their kids, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, "well-balanced, sporty, amusing, and delightful."

Fabulous Digital revealed Lady Louis is also Queen Elizabeth's favorite grandchild. She and her 11-year-old brother, James, are said to be Her Majesty's most welcome house guests at Balmoral for enthusiastically participating in everything offered at their grandmother's retreat.

After Sophie's wedding to Prince Edward in 1999, she became the second lady in the Queen's land. However, with the arrival of the three royal duchesses, Camilla, Kate, and Meghan, her place is now dropped to fifth.
