The Deuce season 3 episode 7, recently, aired on HBO and the episode featured a shocking and tragic death of one of the characters. Titled "That's a Wrap," the penultimate episode sees the demise of Emily Meade's character, Lori Madison.

While we've already seen several deaths within the show, the death of Lori in The Deuce season 3 episode 7 is perhaps the most shocking one. Lori is one of the strongest characters in the series, and she's clear with her ambition to becoming the hottest prostitute.

This is also one of the reasons why she accepted the offer of CC (Gary Carr). Over the past years, Lori became one of the "most happening porn stars" in the country. She grew up in this kind of industry and established her own brand.

However, a man like Greg Taylor (Ryan Farrell) used and abused Lori until she was left with no choice but to leave him. She left Los Angeles because she was never happy with her job. She didn't want to be a porn star and the thought of being one suffocated her.

Lori had a conversation with Eileen (Maggie Gyllenhaal) about why she doesn't want to be remembered only for being a porn star. Eileen told Lori that she's someone who is adored and loved. But, the latter didn't feel that about herself and whatever Eileen tells her will never change her mind.

Lorie felt she's now nothing, and she arranged everything after one of her customers paid for her room for the night. At first, she tried to use drugs to end her life but something stopped her from doing so. Instead, she pulled out a gun, and without a second thought, Lorie pulled the trigger.

The decision of Lori to kill herself in The Deuce season 3 episode 7 is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire run of the series. But, even though this is a tragic moment, many were already anticipating that such a tragedy will happen to Lori.

She's never been with a good man -- from her father through CC and Greg. For a decade and a half, Lori sold her body every night and she gave the money she earned to men who put in none of the work. Lori felt she had enough and there's nothing left of her but her life itself.
