Meghan Markle and her dad, Thomas Wayne Markle Sr., don't have the best father-and-daughter relationship. The two are barely speaking to each other and even have a legal issue to face that may make them meet again -- but inside a courtroom. Their conflict has been so old that it all started when she was only 18 years old.
Meghan and Thomas used to be close when she was only a kid. In fact, as a Hollywood lighting director, he helped her to be part of different plays at her school. However, in the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, it was revealed that they started to have a fallout in the summer before she went to Northernwestern University.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton revealed, via Express, that, although Meghan tried to make her last summer at home count, she was also troubled. At the time, she and her father weren't getting along, and she was already avoiding him. Since then, she started living with her mother and never bothered to visit her dad's house to get her mails.
This situation surprised Meghan's friends, knowing how Prince Harry's wife used to be the apple of her father's eyes. Her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., even attested that her half-sister's relationship with the senior Thomas was a "loving one," especially when she was young.
The younger Thomas told Morton that their father would choose to spend every minute he could with Meghan. Their dad was "more than in love with her than anyone else in the world." She was his whole life and his little princess.
Hence, it was a big mystery what caused their conflict. They even called their issue a "summer storm," given that they used to have a good relationship. Although it wasn't revealed what caused this fallout, reports suggested it started all the issues the two have today.
Amidst the conflict, are they ready to see each other? According to The Sun, there is a bit chance that Meghan and Thomas will come face to face in a British courtroom after the latter release the details of the Duchess of Sussex's letter to him. Sources said that Thomas is ready to travel to the U.K. to defend his action.
However, an insider also told The Mirror that it is quite tragic that Thomas' first activity with the royals could be inside the court. The tipster added his move to defend his actions over the letter shows his intent. He is determined and justified by what he wanted to do.
