Meghan and Thomas used to be close when she was only a kid. In fact, as a Hollywood lighting director, he helped her to be part of different plays at her school. However, in the book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, it was revealed that they started to have a fallout in the summer before she went to Northernwestern University.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton revealed, via Express, that, although Meghan tried to make her last summer at home count, she was also troubled. At the time, she and her father weren't getting along, and she was already avoiding him. Since then, she started living with her mother and never bothered to visit her dad's house to get her mails.

The younger Thomas told Morton that their father would choose to spend every minute he could with Meghan. Their dad was "more than in love with her than anyone else in the world." She was his whole life and his little princess.
