Ever Since Meghan Markle started dating Prince Harry, the never-ending comparison between her and Kate Middleton also began. As the Duchess of Cambridge became a part of the royal family far earlier than the former actress, it seems like the Duchess of Sussex has to match or even surpass the standard Kate has set.
Mirror Online shared an insider revealed Meghan feels like the constant comparison to Kate is "discouraging." Allegedly, the former Suits star deems Kate sets a very high standard to be a duchess. Hence, the mother-of-one finds it quite disappointing that the British public "holds her up to that."
A royal sourced added that Meghan Markle thinks that no matter what she does, she can never equal reach Kate's level. It also, allegedly, frustrates her that the British people won't give her a chance to be her own person and create her own place in the royal family.
People have been comparing Meghan Markle to Kate Middleton from style to fashion to almost everything. Despite being almost in the same age -- they only have a one-year gap -- they are entirely different.
Meghan Markle was raised in Los Angeles, California, while Kate Middleton grew up in a village in England. They have different upbringings and don't have anything in common, aside from their royal titles.
Meghan, too, has very different circumstances than Kate. She was born to divorced parents and supported herself by doing different jobs before establishing a career as actress in Hollywood.
Kate Middleton officially joined the royal family when she got married to Prince William in 2011. Hence, it only means that she has been a royal for eight years and has more experience compared to Meghan Markle.
Despite the criticisms, it cannot be denied that Meghan is now a duchess and a high-profile member of the royal family just like Kate. Amidst the comparison, it is good to note that they have different roles to play in the monarchy.
Kate Middleton is set to become a queen consort when Prince William ascends the throne from his father, Prince Charles. Hence, she has more responsibilities than Meghan Markle. Add to that that she also has a full-time job as a wife and mother.
Meghan, on the other hand, doesn't have to worry about the pressures of leading the whole of England. Prince Harry is sixth in line for the throne, following his dad, brother, nephews, and niece -- Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. So, it only means that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have different roles as a royal that they don't have to be alike.
