When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went for a 10-day Africa tour, the Duke of Sussex retraced the steps of his mother, Princess Diana. He even remembers his mom with all the media scrutiny his wife is going through. Hence, there are claims that Harry projects the late Princess of Wales onto the Duchess of Sussex, who reminds him of what the People's Princess experienced.
In a discussion on the online forum site Quora, a royal fan believes Prince Harry is projection Princess Diana onto Meghan Markle in some ways, although not entirely. In the ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Harry revealed that he still has flashbacks to the time when the paparazzi hounded his mother.
By the looks of it, Prince Harry has yet to fully move on from the death of his mom. "Harry hasn't found a meaningful measure of peace in his own life yet, because his mom faced merciless intrusion by the paparazzi," royal follower Deanna Eppers said.
However, at the time, Princess Diana didn't also want to have her own protection officers and be followed by them so that Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth wouldn't know her whereabouts. Despite her desire to be a private person, she was one of the most photographed women in the world that she needed to be protected. Hence, it is what Prince Charles intends to do today: to protect his family.
Another royal fan with the name Claire Chase contradicted the claim and said that it's Meghan Markle who awaked Prince Harry's protective nature and reminded him of what Princess Diana experienced. She also questioned his move of urging the paparazzi to stop hounding his wife when he could just hire more security to keep them safe.
Prince Harry fears the repercussion of the constant media attention they receive. According to People, he said that, as a part of being a royal, or doing any job in general, he has to put on a brave face and turn a cheek to a lot of stuff.
However, with the ongoing media scrutiny, a lot of criticisms are hurting them, especially the unreal ones. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been the subject of media frenzy from the very beginning. So, they are now doing their best to focus on being real and the persons that they genuinely are, standing up for the things they believe in. "I will not be bullied into carrying a game that killed my mum," he added.
