Anything could happen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker since that's exactly what the final trailer implied. The new teaser for Star Wars Episode 9 hinted at a huge number of ships, the possible death of a beloved character, and the return of Emperor Sheev Palpatine. But, did it also confirm that Rey and Kylo Ren will work together once again? The trailer featured a scene where the two combine forces to destroy a mysterious object, which has finally been revealed.

In the Star Wars Episode 9 trailer, Rey and Kylo Ren are shown in what appears to be a Resistance ship. However, instead of fighting each other, the Force users work together in attacking a strange dark object that immediately falls apart. There are several speculations about what the object is, from a strange new enemy to an effigy of Emperor Palpatine. However, The Rise of Skywalker may have revealed just what it is, and it could play an important part in moving the entire storyline forward.

The Star Wars Show has just confirmed that the object is Kylo Ren's Darth Vader shrine that he has worked so hard to create. It's a shocking revelation considering how much Kylo values the shrine because of his absolute worship for the former Sith Lord. This could mean that Kylo is finally going back to being Ben Solo in The Rise of Skywalker. On the other hand, it is also possible that the scene has been edited to make fans believe Kylo will redeem himself.

Fans have pointed out that the scene shows Kylo Ren with an undamaged helmet. The same helmet has been destroyed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi after his tense meeting with Supreme Leader Snoke. Of course, the helmet was shown being repaired in a previous Star Wars Episode 9 trailer, but the one that appears in the scene does not have the red marks where the helmet was put back together. There is a possibility that the scene was edited and could appear differently in the final theatrical cut of The Rise of Skywalker.

This isn't the first time that Star Wars intentionally added a scene in the trailer that did not appear in the theatrical cut. However, those other scenes didn't seem as important as the one that showed up in the Star Wars Episode 9 final trailer. Nevertheless, there is still a huge possibility that Rey and Kylo Ren will be the key to defeating the main villain in The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
