El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie was just, recently, released on Netflix and the film proved to be doing well as the streaming platform shared impressive digits of the show's viewership ratings. Now, since it has been received well by fans, will the movie boost the ratings of the upcoming Better Call Saul season 5?

According to a report from Deadline, Nielsen's data revealed El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie has reached about 8.2 million viewers in the United States during its opening week. In terms of a global basis, Netflix shared on Thursday, October 24, the film has been watched by 25,734,392 "households" during its first seven days.

The question now is: will El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie affect the ratings of Better Call Saul season 5? The ratings of the Bob Odenkirk-led AMC series weren't as high as the movie's ratings. However, it is still performing well on the network as it managed to have about 1.5 million live viewers every week. That's considered great for cable but, still, it's less than 10 percent of the audience tabulated for the film.

Now, will the viewers of the movie watch the upcoming Better Call Saul season 5? According to CarteMatt, that's very likely but only a few of them may possibly choose to do live. Perhaps, one of the major issues of the series is that only a few people are interested in checking out a show live. Another issue is that most viewers will probably wait for the series to arrive on Netflix.

CarterMatt noted the impact of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie on the ratings for Better Call Saul season 5 is only minimal. Since there's a long hiatus between the fourth and fifth installment, some could've lost their interest in the series as well. Moreover, the movie and the series do not have any strong link; aside from the journey of Jimmy McGill.

Meanwhile, the ending of the movie will not also change the future of the series. Executive producer Vince Gilligan told The Hollywood Reporter that he and co-creator Peter Gould had no intention to change anything regarding the series' future.

He also admitted that they didn't want to screw up the upcoming installment, and they wouldn't do anything to damage the series. The good news is that Better Call Saul season 5 would not be the last, as some reports noted the story will continue until season 6.

Better Call Saul season 5 will, reportedly, premiere in 2020 on AMC.
