Selena Gomez surprised everyone with the release of her two new songs, "Look at Her Now" and "Lose You to Love Me," but not Justin Bieber. A report emerged that Hailey Baldwin's husband is all prepared to hear the 27-year-old singer-songwriter's songs about him and not even fazed about it.
Fans quickly noticed that Gomez's new music is about her past relationship with Bieber. The two had an on-again-off-again relationship for eight years before the latter had a relationship with Baldwin.
However, according to HollywoodLife, Bieber wasn't fazed by the songs Gomez wrote. A source told the publication that he was even prepared about it.
The insider, who is said to be close to Bieber's camp, said that the "I Don't Care" hitmaker knew it was coming. It was the same thing that Gomez did in the past, so he knew that she would do it again.
Bieber respects Gomez's decision to write about their broken romance. However, he doesn't want to dwell on the past. He just wants to put his attention on Baldwin, the life they are building together, and their plans for the future.
In an interview on Zach Sang Show, Gomez admitted she wanted Bieber to hear her songs. She even cleared her reason, explaining that being able to say something on her own is beautiful. The 13 Reasons Why executive producer also stressed that she doesn't have evil intentions with what she did.
Although her way of expressing might be snappy, she just wanted it to come from a "genuine place." Gomez also explained that when she felt like some things were left unsaid, she aimed to turn it into art.
Gomez and Bieber's rocky relationship could be chronicled by their Instagram posts and comments before. Now, it could be seen on her first single in two years, "Lose You to Love Me."
The song's lyrics narrated their reconciliation in 2017 and Gomez's hard time to move on. Six months after their split, Bieber got engaged and married to Baldwin.
In a press release, via Vulture, Gomez said that the song was inspired by many things that happened in her life since the release of her album and not just about Bieber alone. She thought sharing music was important, knowing how many people could relate to the truth that the way to discover one's self was through the scars' in their lives. She only wanted people to be hopeful and know that they would eventually come out on the other side stronger and a better version of themselves every after defeat.
