Princess Diana had tried her best to give her sons a normal life possible. But, despite her efforts, the titles before Prince William and Prince Harry's names made it impossible.

Prior to her tragic death and amidst the scandalous life she lived in, Diana always wanted her sons, William and Harry, to live a regular life outside the royal circle. The Princess of Wales often tries to give her boys a "day off" where they could act like normal kids and not heirs to the throne. In the process, she broke several royal rules to make it happen.

In Andrew Morton's 1992 biography titled Diana: Her True Story, the late Princess of Wales revealed how she tried to exercise her rights and influence on her boys very early on. She personally chose the names William and Harry instead of the royal family's referred names Arthur and Albert.

She got the first name but her sons still have the second names that she wasn't happy to have. Prince William's full name is William Arthur Philip Louis while Harry is Henry Charles Albert David.

The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex's births also broke royal tradition. Angela Levin wrote in her 2018 book, titled Harry: Conversations With The Prince, that Prince Charles' decision to witness the birth of William made the young prince the first offspring of an heir to the throne to have his father present at the birth.

Princess Diana's modern attitude made it possible for the princes to experience and enjoy things that normal children do growing up. They both attended Eton College, which was a huge break on a royal tradition that royal men had been educated at Gordonstoun in Scotland. Diana's decision to give her kids an education outside palace walls is believed to had received opposition from the royal family.

Diana's former press secretary Patrick Jephson told ABC News (via E! News) that the Princess of Wales did her best to keep her boys grounded and have some experiences that they could share with their friends. She let them experienced things that normal boys their age do enjoy like watching movies in a cinema, queuing up at McDonald's, enjoying rides at amusement parks, and more.

Diana's efforts to give William and Harry an ordinary upbringing, however, was cut short following her untimely death in 1997. Since then, the media scrutiny was focused on the siblings as their mother who usually took the spotlight away from them died in a car crash in Paris.

Now that Harry admitted the rift between him and his brother, many are expecting that it will not take long before they will reconcile and will be seen in public events together again. The duo is expected to attend the upcoming Remembrance Sunday service on Nov. 11 along with respective wives.
