When Prince Harry delivered his speech at the recent WellChild awards, he couldn't help but tear up when he remembered Meghan Markle's pregnancy. The Duke of Sussex saw the importance of attending the event as a new father. However, some questioned why he got emotional remembering his wife's pregnancy.
In a discussion on Quora, a royal fan asked why Prince Harry became emotional when he delivered his speech. Other royal fans made fun of the action of Meghan's husband, saying he only had indigestion and inward belch that he started laughing and not crying. Another one supported the claim and cleared that he didn't get emotional remembering his wife's pregnancy, but laughing instead.
Sarah Williams added that Prince Harry's speech was so wrong for talking about himself and Meghan, instead of celebrating the bravery of sick children, their families, and the ones who take care of them. She even assumed that his wife had something to do about his statement and emotions.
However, the British royal family's follower since the 1980s Gail Lucas opposed the claim. Instead of his emotions, she said that what needed to be addressed is the comments that claimed Prince Harry talked about himself and Meghan all the while. She stressed that the prince only mentioned in the introduction that he and his wife were honored to be at the event.
He started to tear up when he recalled how affected they were last year when they found out Meghan was pregnant, but couldn't tell anyone. Although he lost his composure, the remainder of his speech focused on the strength and courage of the children, their families, and the importance of continuing to reach out.
According to Elle, Prince Harry revealed that he and Meghan were the only ones who knew they were expecting a baby at the time. He became emotional when he reflected on that, realizing that as new parents, they would do everything they could to protect and help their child should he be born with "challenges" or become "unwell."
Prince Harry even struggled to continue his speech and was only comforted by the presenter, Gabby Roslin. "And now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own," he said.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born in May. Since then, the kid was spotted out and about often. He even appeared in the trailer of his parents' ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.
