Meghan Markle found new allies in the United Kingdom. Over 70 members of the UK parliament, all women, stood for Meghan amidst public scrutiny.
Seventy-two female MPs of the UK expressed their sympathy and solidarity to the Duchess of Sussex. The group released an open letter that states they put aside their differences to support Meghan.
They said, on several occasions, the headlines in the press have invaded the privacy of the royal family and condemned a person without any good reason. The group called out what they described as "outdated, colonial undertones" of some of the stories about Meghan.
The women members of the Parliament stressed that they can not remain silent about the duchess concern. They echoed Prince Harry's stand on the matter that such media behavior should not be tolerated and should be challenged.
During their 10-day trip to Africa, Prince Harry surprised the world and even his own family when he launched an attack on the British press. He announced that he and his wife will be taking legal action against one of the tabloids for invading the Duchess' privacy.
The Duke of Sussex is referring to the Daily Mail for publishing the private letters that Meghan sent to her father, Thomas Markle, Sr. On top of that, the royal couple is also filing lawsuits against two tabloids for alleged phone hacking.
In Sussex's official website, Harry made a powerful statement about their decision to take the matter into court. The Duke of Sussex stressed that he can no longer be a silent witness to her wife's suffering.
Prince Harry reiterated that he could not remain silent when someone he loves is being treated inhumanely in public. The Duke also expressed his fear that what happened to his mother, Princess Diana, will also happen to his wife.
Since news broke out about the Suits actress romantic relationship with Harry, she has been scrutinized in public. It got worse when the couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and, eventually, got married in May 2018.
In a recent ITV documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, the Duchess of Sussex admitted that she is hurt by the criticisms. Meghan Markle revealed that some of her friends warned her that British tabloids will destroy her life once she marries Harry.
"The biggest thing I know is that I never thought this would be easy. But I thought it would be fair," Meghan Markle said in the documentary in teary eyes.
