It has been more than two decades now since Princess Diana passed away. While the memories and legacies of her still linger to many people, some things about her are just unforgettable and much more if they are always being brought up by others, like her former butler, Paul Burrell.

Just recently, the former butler to Princess Diana caught the attention of the public again. After his appearance in the documentary, Princess Diana's Wicked Stepmother, and interview with Fox News, he was slammed by many royal fans and supporters for spilling new secrets about the late princess.

Based on his revelations, the Princess of Wales had a very "volatile" relationship with her mother, Frances Shand Kydd. He shared the last conversation that happened between the two just before the royal passed away.

According to Paul Burrell, who served Princess Diana from 1987 to 1997, her mother called her names through a phone call one night. He revealed that Frances Shand Kydd called her daughter a "wh*re" for dating Muslim men.

As claimed, Princess Diana called Paul into her room that night. He also stated that the princess made him listen to the phone call, which is why he heard every hurtful thing that her mother said to her.

Paul Burrell further shared that the Princess of Wales, later on, "begged" her mother to stop saying those harsh words to her. However, the words did not stop "out of drunkenness." So, she hung up and cried to him that night.

He also revealed that this is the reason why the two never communicated again before the accident. But, after the unfortunate event in 1997, Princess Diana's mother is said to ask for forgiveness from Paul. Even so, he stated that he cannot give "absolution" to her. "I couldn't," he added.

With these surprising revelations at hand, royal fans and supporters were not amused with Paul Burrell's actions. As per Express UK, these unhappy viewers took their disappointments to social media.

Some fans called Paul as the butler who wouldn't "shut up." Others took it as a very disrespectful action toward the royal family given that he was once trusted by the princess.

While no word has been heard from the members of the royal family, especially Princess Diana's sons, Daily Mail noted that the young princes already gave a "rare statement" toward Paul Burrell in 2003.

As it happened, Prince William and Prince Harry called out their mother's former butler for his betrayal. The statement was released after Paul Burrell published his first "tell-all" book detailing the things that Princess Diana, confidently, shared with him. Three years later, he published his second book, The Way We Were, which centered on his time serving Princess Diana.
