Another highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe film has just been confirmed. Ant-Man 3 is officially happening as director Peyton Reed signs on to helm the follow-up to Ant-Man and the Wasp. The new movie is set to begin filming in 2021 and is expected to premiere the following year. In addition to that, Michael Douglas has confirmed that he will finally return as Hank Pym.

Fans were already concerned about the future of Scott Lang when the post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp left him in the Quantum Realm as Hope van Dyne, Janet van Dyne, and Hank Pym became victims to Thanos' snap from Avengers: Infinity War. However, it was confirmed in Avengers: Endgame that Scott managed to get out of the realm and ultimately helped in making sure the people who disappeared were brought back. With all the main characters back, there is little doubt that Ant-Man 3 could happen. Luckily, a new report confirmed that the sequel's director, as well as its possible release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peyton Reed has signed on to helm the third Ant-Man movie. This is welcome news considering that Reed has done such a great job on the first two films. The report also revealed that the sequel is expected to begin production next year with a possible release date in 2022. This means that Ant-Man 3 is set to be one of the Phase 5 movies of the MCU.

But, who is coming back for the third Ant-Man film? Michael Douglas has confirmed with Collider that Hank Pym will be back in action and even revealed when he is expected to begin filming for the sequel.

"I love [Marvel films], I'm having a great time," Douglas admitted. "We're starting a third one in the beginning of January '21."

That's right! It looks like Michael Douglas will be reunited with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michelle Pfeiffer early next year. In addition to that, there is a huge possibility that Hannah John-Kamen and Laurence Fishburne will return as Ava Starr and Bill Foster in the third movie. However, the premise of the movie is still unknown. Hopefully, there will be new updates as soon as the film nears production later this year.

Ant-Man 3 has not yet been given an official release date, although it is set to begin production by January 2021. Nevertheless, the MCU film could hit theaters by Fall 2022.
