Meghan Markle comes second to the most unpopular member of the royal family, following Prince Andrew, a new poll suggested. It looks like the British public is more in favor of Kate Middleton and Prince William than Prince Harry and his wife after their revelations in the controversial ITV documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

According to Express, in the 1,005 partakers asked for the Public First poll for Metro, about 41 percent has positive point of view about Meghan, while 29 percent sees her negatively. The younger generation and those identified as "politically left" are also in favor of the Duchess of Sussex.

She even has an increased approval rating of 66 percent among 18 to 24-year-olds, but only 28 percent among 55 to 64-year-olds. It is quite far from Kate Middleton, who has an overall approval rating of 67 percent.

Following Meghan Markle's explosive ITV documentary, the poll revealed 71 percent of the youth sympathized with her. However, only 28 percent of the older generation has "any inkling of pity" for the former actress. A quarter of conservative voters have any "inkling feeling of sympathy for her," while half of the labor voters feel sorry for her.

Gabriel Milland, a partner with business consultants Public First that commissioned the survey, said that the poll's result only showed that Meghan Markle is, indeed, dividing the public opinion. However, it was also evident that the older generation doesn't think the Sussexes represent Britain well compared to Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Only 10 percent of people over 65-years-old believed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did an excellent job in projecting the United Kingdom, while the Cambridges got 73 percent. "Older people prefer William and Kate to Harry and Meghan, but there's a lot of support for the Sussexes among younger people," Milland explained.

The royal family manages to reinvent itself to stay relevant for the years to come. Despite the low ratings and unpopularity, it can't be denied that Meghan Markle has a huge impact on the young group of people, who will make up the majority of the British population in the future.

Meanwhile, the survey also showed that the British public wanted the royal family to focus on working in the U.K. than in other countries. Fifty-three percent of participants believed the royals should promote charities in the realm, while 44 percent said that they should recognize the works of the local people who go above and beyond to help others.
