Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have become the faces of many reports and headlines since their first meeting. But, now that the former actress is already an official member of the British royal family, rigorous media scrutiny has become much more apparent today.
Some individuals see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as great influences in the society. In fact, some even claim that they are "modernizing" the British monarchy.
However, the latest polls and surveys from the British public tell a very different story. As it happens, the public is not loving Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
According to Express UK, polls and surveys from Mindshare UK show that the Sussex couple's standings are far behind Prince William's and Kate Middleton's. Only 34 percent of the British public believes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have positive influences on society and the monarchy. Whereas the Cambridge couple, over 51 percent believes that they cast a positive light on the United Kingdom.
The polls and surveys also noted if the royals are deemed by the public as negative influences. While only 10 percent believe that Prince William and Kate Middleton are bad influences, over 25 percent think of it on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's part.
While no further explanations were given, since these are only based on numbers and figures, many critics and experts are convinced that the Sussex couple's recent "bombshell" interviews impacted the polls.
According to Daily Mail, however, the polls and surveys varied dramatically depending on the age of those polled. Based on the results, it marked a great "divider" between generations, in terms of their perspectives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The numbers have shown that the Sussex couple is favored more by the British youth than the adults. Over 55 percent of the British youth, aged between 18 and 24, believe that Meghan Markle, especially, is a good influence on the United Kingdom.
On the other hand, 42 percent of those who are aged between 55 and 64 believe that the duchess holds a negative impact. Only a small percentage believe otherwise.
As seen also in the numbers, British adults hold high regard for Prince William and Kate Middleton. They generally perceive the Cambridge couple as positive influences.
All in all, the numbers have clearly shown that Prince William and Kate Middleton have always maintained their positive light and impact among the British public, regardless of the age. But, the case is far different on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's end.
