After seemingly being an outcast at the Remembrance Day ceremony last year, Meghan Markle may stand next to Queen Elizabeth II this year. Camilla Parker Bowles had to cancel her appearance at the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in London due to chest infection. So, in Sunday's ceremony, will Prince Harry's wife take her place to be beside Her Majesty if the Duchess of Cornwall still can't make it?
Camilla Parker Bowles canceled her first solo engagement with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry due to ill-health. "The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days," a Clarence House spokesman announced.
According to Express, Camilla Parker Bowles was very upset to miss the event. As the Patron of the Poppy, Prince Charles' wife was set to appear along with the Sussexes to put her own poppy tribute at the site. The tune of the Last Post and two-minute silence then marked the ceremony.
It remains to be seen if Camilla Parker Bowles can make it on the Sunday's Remembrance Day ceremony. This time, Queen Elizabeth will grace the event, along with other senior royal family members, at the Royal Albert Hall.
If Camilla Parker Bowles is still unwell to attend the engagement, there is a bit chance that Meghan Markle will take her place. It will be, too, the first time that the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry will be reunited with Kate Middleton and Prince William in public after their controversial ITV documentary.
To recall, at the same event last year, Meghan Markle had to stand on a different balcony, away from the rest of the royal family. It was the first time that the former actress attended the event, which was the 100th anniversary of Remembrance Sunday that marked the end of World War 1.
People reported that Meghan Markle appeared on the balcony overlooking the Cenotaph in London at the time. However, she seemed to be segregated from the rest of the royal family when she was placed on a different window balcony.
Queen Elizabeth, Kate Middleton, and Camilla Parker Bowles were all together on one balcony. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, was with the wife of German First Lady Elke Budenbender, wife of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
However, the distance between Meghan Markle and other royal family members was not because she was outcast, but due to the limitations of the balconies. Each window was said to be small and quite impossible to fit more than three or four women. So, Prince Harry's wife had to stand on a different balcony, but she got a significant position of her own.
