Vanessa Hudgens just gave High School Musical fans a new version of their favorite song from the movie, "Breaking Free." The actress shared on social media the drunken karaoke version of the song and it gave fans a nostalgic feel.

Hughes shared on Instagram a video of her in "sober" mode while singing the iconic "Breaking Free" from the High School Musical. According to reports, the 30-year-old actress-singer seems to be out at a karaoke bar in Los Angeles with friends including actress Leslie Stratton. In the clip, Hughes is rocking a shimmering long silver dress which she wore along with an Adidas cross-body bag while belting out perhaps her favorite line in the song.

"Um. Here's a really bad, aggressive, and totally sober version of breaking free. Yep. That happened lol it hurts my ears but also makes me laugh lol," she captioned the video.

Hughes starred in the hit Disney Channel movie in 2006 along with ex-boyfriend Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale. In the movie, Hughes played the role of Gabrielle Montez, a transfer student who excels in math. Efron, on the other hand, portrayed Troy Bolton, the popular basketball team captain.

They both end up trying out to be part of their high school musical. They performed "Breaking Free" when they both make audition callbacks. The success of the movie made two more sequels, High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year as well as concert tours and a TV spin-off for streaming service Disney+.

Hudgens is grateful to star in a movie like High School Musical that made a positive impact on people's lives. The Journey 2: The Mysterious Island actress said it is her legacy that she became part of a film that teaches and inspires children to dream and not to be fearful of going after what they are passionate about.

The movie launched Hudgens' career but unfortunately, she also got typecast on a sweet, girl-next-door character because of the film. In the Summer 2019 cover of Wonderland, Hudgens admitted that after High School Musical, she received a lot of offers where she will play almost the same character in the Disney Channel movie. She knew she can do the job but decided to turn down the offers because she wants to show to her fans that she can do something else by playing diverse roles.

Hudgens will lead star Hallmark's The Knight Before Christmas which is set to be released on November 21. She will also do a sequel to the Christmas romantic comedy film The Princess Switch. The sequel will be titled, The Princess Switch: Switched Again.
