Prince Andrew is now in the middle of a controversy that may affect the wedding of his daughter, Princess Beatrice. The Princess of York is about to get wedded to her fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, next year, and now there are a lot of questions surrounding the much-awaited event. Will she wear a tiara like other royal brides? Will the event take place in a more secluded area to avoid attention?
Princess Beatrice already revealed that she didn't want an extravagant wedding like that of her sister, Princess Eugenie, and royal cousins, Princes William and Harry. There have been multiple reports that she would not follow the royal protocols and make her wedding her own. But, would she be allowed to wear a tiara at the nuptial in the middle of her father's scandal?
Tiara has been a big part of special royal events and occasions. Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and even Princess Beatrice donned their tiaras at their weddings. This piece often gets everyone's attention aside from the wedding dress.
According to Express, with the latest BBC interview of Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice might only opt for a quieter wedding. Royal expert and author Marlene Koenig tweeted that the nuptial would be the collateral damage of the family's ordeal.
"I will not be surprised if she has a rather quiet wedding, out of the public eye, with a few photos, no live coverage," she said. Allegedly, a low-key wedding is much better than postponing the event.
Hence, Princess Beatrice may ditch the use of tiara and not wear it at all. Jewelry expert Geoffrey Munn stressed that anyone could wear a tiara, so the bride-to-be is unlikely banned to use it despite the family fallout. He explained that any woman has the right to don a tiara, but the ancient tradition has it that it should be worn by a bride or an already married woman.
Also, Princess Beatrice reportedly told Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson that she is not interested in having a lavish event at Windsor, especially after Princess Eugenie experienced criticisms over the cost of her police escort. She is reportedly planning to make it a more conservative affair, located at a low-key venue.
A royal source even backed up the claim, per Mirror Online. Princess Beatrice may hold her wedding in a private place after issues surrounding her dad's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Some royal insiders even added that she might tie the knot in a secluded area or a different country.
