After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said their “I dos” last year, they have been constantly bombarded with negative comments. Many believe that the hate that the Duke of Sussex is dealing with right now is all because of his wife.
Being the son of the very well-loved Princess Diana, Prince Harry automatically got all the love and support from royal fans. However, when he married Meghan Markle in 2018, a lot of them felt that he chose the wrong person. That’s when things went downhill for the royal couple.
While Prince Harry sees Meghan Markle as the reincarnation of Princess Diana, critics see things differently. Many are not very pleased with the Duchess of Sussex’s background. She’s a biracial woman, who already had a failed marriage under her belt.
As if that’s not enough, some royal fans also don’t like the fact that Meghan Markle’s former career was a Hollywood actress. Many feel like since she was trained to act, they don’t know if she's genuine with her actions or not.
Ever since Meghan Markle joined the royal family, she was accused of a lot of things. Critics claimed that she only married Prince Harry to gain popularity and that she loves the camera more than her husband.
Now, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who officiated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding and baptized their firstborn Archie, is saying that the Duchess of Sussex is serving life sentence” after joining the royal family. He told BBC Five Live presenter Emma Barnett that “It is genuinely a life sentence. I would obviously be immensely concerned about all racist behavior and, particularly when it's someone you know, you just think this is so totally undeserved.”
Despite the backlash, Archbishop Welby defended Meghan Markle, saying that critics are painting a different picture of her. “These sort of portrayals of her you sometimes see,” he said. “She's a person of profound humanity, and deep concern for people, seeking to carry out her role with every ounce of her being, and I think she's a remarkable person.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took a six-week break after finishing their royal duties. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex headed to the US for the holidays, but many were disappointed with their decision as fans believe that the prince should cherish his moments with Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth more, given their old age.
