Kate Middleton now takes over the 65-year role of Queen Elizabeth II. The Duchess of Cambridge is now the patron of Family Action, an organization that helps families on issues like mental health struggles, domestic and substance abuse, financial difficulties, and parenting challenges.
In a lengthy statement, Kensington Palace announced the role of Prince William's wife in the monarchy. It also revealed the importance of this charity to the royal family. Queen Elizabeth herself passed the patronage to Kate Middleton after playing the role for more than 65 years, taking it from Queen Mary in 1953.
The future queen consort has been spending the last eight years meeting charities and organizations that are working to strengthen the British families and communities. Hence, being a patron of Family Action aligns on Her Royal Highness' works and advocacies.
"There is a powerful correlation between a parent or carer's wellbeing and their child's development," the Kensington Palace continued to say. "That is why organizations such as Family Action that provide support are instrumental to a child's future."
According to Express, Kate Middleton already visited Peterley Manor Farm to meet Family Action's staff members. Here, she also met the children that the charity supported. She sat down with the kids and joined their activity, like choosing Christmas trees and making decorations at the elf workshop.
During her stay at the Farm, the mother-of-three learned how Family Action works with disadvantaged and vulnerable children through local and national services, per Harper's Bazaar. She also knew how the cause provides training to professionals and other organizations.
It was not the first time that Kate Middleton graced Peterley Manor Farm. To recall, she was also there in January to launch the charity's FamilyLine support phone line.
At the time, she said that everyone experienced the same struggle. Women often got a lot of support with their new baby, particularly in the early days. But after the age of one, it would be gone. Family Action would then come to the picture. It aims to help anyone who is experiencing a hard time building their family.
Family Action chief executive David Holmes said they are honored that Kate Middleton is following in the footsteps of their former patrons, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary. He also thanked the Monarch for her support and encouragement to the cause for over so many years.
Seeing Kate Middleton's passion for supporting disadvantaged families, Holmes said he is impressed by her leadership. Hence, they are now looking forward to working with her as the new patron of Family Action.
