BTS is breaking records left and right, and the boys are definitely not showing any signs of slowing down. RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook always dominate award shows, leading them to win all the major awards that they were nominated for.
On Dec. 7, 2019, BTS accepted their “Group of the Year” award in Variety‘s Hitmakers Brunch at the Soho House in West Hollywood. The boys received multiple awards just this month alone and you may think that they probably already got used to it — but, no.
Being the only member of BTS who can speak in English fluently, RM gave an acceptance speech on behalf of his members, where he reminded everyone of the core of their success. Despite all the awards and recognitions that they have received, the BTS leader showed humility.
“Since we’re not very used to this kind of event, I’m very nervous, but I’m going to take it easy,” RM said. “First of all, I’d like to say thank you to Shirley, of course, and all the editors at Variety for choosing us as group of the year. 2019 was truly a very exciting and surprising year for us, and this event really made it even more special.”
Although they were the men of the hour, RM made sure to show their appreciation to the other artists. They know what it’s like to work hard for their dream, so he sees to it to not discredit the efforts of the other musicians. The BTS leader also pointed out that music is indeed a universal language.
“We’d like to express the biggest respect and admiration toward all the members of the music industry including artists, songwriters, and all the producers… and everyone who we met today,” RM continued. “One thing was very clear; music has truly the power to overcome various kinds of barriers.”
And in true BTS fashion, RM thanked the ARMYs for all the love and support. The boys have always been so appreciative of their fans since day one. Lastly, RM confirmed that they are working on new music and album for 2020.
“The great news is that we are currently working on our new music and new album and can’t wait to share them with you guys in the near future,” RM shared. “I hope you guys are so excited to discover what BTS has in store in 2020.”
Jin already hinted that BTS will be dropping a new song next year during his acceptance speech for “Song of the Year” at MAMA 2019.
