Camilla Parker-Bowles' son, Tom Parker-Bowles, revealed something about his mother on one Christmas day when he was a child. Despite the sweet image of the future queen consort that everyone knows her for, her child disclosed that she used to "swear and sweat" on Christmas morning.
Upon publishing his new cookbook, Christmas & Other Winter Feasts, Tom opened up about Christmas with his family when he was just a child. At the time, he recalled his mom used to swear as she kicked the turkey into the oven for Christmas.
As early as 6 a.m. Camilla Parker-Bowles and Tom's aunt could already be heard swearing as they prepared the Christmas turkey. "My mother and aunt are waking up and kicking a turkey into an Aga, which is a sort of always-on English cooking thing that you have in the country," he said, via Express.
Prince Charles' wife, together with Tom's aunt, would always make a big deal out of cooking the turkey. They could be seen sweating, pushing, and swearing early in the morning to get that meal ready.
However, despite his mom's effort, Tom still prefers eating beef. Now that he's all grown-up, he feels guilty that his kid never had turkey for Christmas. The 44-year-old food writer even thinks he deprives his children of "something very traditional."
Aside from beef, Tom believed that the best thing about Christmas was not the main bit, but the bits around it. He liked chipolatas, which are small sausages wrapped in bacon. He also loved Brussels sprouts.
He also found that Turkey balanced everything that was put around it. But for him, the real thing about Christmas is about bringing family and friends together - no matter what religion people have or where they come from.
Tom is Camilla Parker-Bowles' eldest child from her ex-husband Andrew Parker-Bowles. Remembering his mom's Christmas turkey, he told Town & Country Magazine that the Duchess of Cornwall also made good British food.
He remembered his mom's roast chicken. "It was always a really good roast chicken," he said. Camilla Parker-Bowles rubbed it with butter and put a lemon in it. She wasn't only good at it, but she was also brilliant at cooking traditional stuff. She also cooked meats and fish, preparing dishes for them as their mother.
Tom also recalled that at the time, his dad was in the army and traveled a lot. He was only with them on weekends. Fortunately, their mom was a good traditional cook, and there was always food on their table, and it was always good.
