A lot of people followed the love story of Princess Diana and Prince Charles until it ended with a divorce. Although the two already met each other a few years before they tied the knot, an unearthed report revealed that they only see each other face-to-face 13 times before their wedding. It was also revealed that she was left traumatized when the heir to the throne gave a surprising comment about their love.

The late Duchess of Wales met Prince Charles when she was only 16 years old. At the time, the Duke of Wales was 29. In an interview with The Telegraph in 1981, the future king saw his then-future wife as a "very jolly, amusing, and attractive" teenager. "I mean great fun and bouncy and full of life and everything," he said of her.

After three years, Princess Diana and Prince Charles met again. Later, they got engaged. In Diana's personal recorded tapes with her voice coach, Peter Settelen, in 1992, which turned to be part of the Diana: In Her Own Words documentary, she revealed that they only met 13 times before they got married.

Princess Diana even remembered their interview together when they announced their engagement, per Cosmopolitan. At the time, a reporter asked her if she was in love. Stunned, she thought, what a thick question was that? She later insisted that they were both in love, of course.

However, Prince Charles intervened and said, "Whatever love means." His statement threw Princess Diana entirely and left her traumatized, thinking what a strange answer it was.

Anyhow, they still ended married in 1981. Princess Diana was only 20 years old then. After a year, she gave birth to their firstborn, Prince William, followed by Prince Harry in 1984. Despite what everyone thought a fairytale love story, the issues about their relationship became too great to ignore.

Their marriage ended in divorce in 1996 after 15 years of being together. In Ingrid Seward's book, The Queen and Di: The Untold Story, she revealed, via Express, a heartbreaking question that Princess Diana asked Prince William after they parted ways.

When they met again for the first time in Kensington Palace after their divorce, Princess Diana walked into the drawing-room and allegedly asked Prince Charles, "Why did this have to happen?" Unfortunately, she met her demise through a tragic car accident in 1997. As a member of the royal family, Diana became one of the most famous iconic figures in the world.
