There are so many ships in the K-pop world. These ships are created when fans feel that something more than friendship is going on between two members. Most of these ships are nothing serious and are just for fun, as fans are just playfully pointing out the idols’ tight relationship with each other.
But as for Jimin and V, their ship (VMIN) goes beyond friendship as they are called “soulmates.” And in Bon Voyage Season 4 Episode 4, Jimin seemed to prove their unique bond when he appeared to have proposed to V.
While walking on Hooker Valley Track in New Zealand, the caption dropped a lot of international ARMYs (I-ARMYs) jaws when it read that Jimin was saying, “I want to live with my lovely Taehyung for the rest of my life.” The soulmates certainly had a romantic moment in I-ARMYs eyes. But for Korean ARMYs (K-ARMYs), they knew it wasn’t even close to a proposal at all.
You see, Jimin was not saying those words to V, he was singing it. The 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and dancer was crooning some of the lyrics from Korean-trot-genre singer Nam Jin’s nationally renowned song “With You (Nimgwa Hamkke).” The original lyrics go, “On those green meadows, I want to build a house as beautiful as a painting. There, I want to live with my lovely darling for the rest of my life.”
So did Jimin propose to V? No. But they certainly had a cute moment right there, especially when the former affectionately touched the latter’s chin while singing the lines.
Jimin and V’s soulmate status started way back when they were still young. The BTS boys went to the same school and quickly struck up a friendship. They also became trainees in Big Hit Entertainment, and the pair always say that all the difficulties that they were dealing with that time became easier to handle because they had each other.
In fact, in the finale of Bon Voyage Season 2, V tearfully recalled how Jimin cried with him when he was sad, and also laughed with him when he was happy. Although Jimin is only two months older than V, he always treated him as his younger brother. He takes good care of him, and V always appreciates that.
RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are close, but there’s something quite special between Jimin and V. Being the same age certainly added to their closeness, and being friends before their trainee days surely made a strong core to their relationship.
