Queen Elizabeth II has always been loyal to the royal family's Christmas traditions. Every year, the monarch is said to follow the same set of customs.
This year, however, with all of the things that have happened in the United Kingdom, as well as to the British Royal Family, many are wondering if the queen will still do the same things she always did for the last six decades.
According to Insider, there are over eight Christmas traditions that the royal family heed every year. Aside from spending the holiday season in Sandringham, it was said that the senior royals, especially Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, always give back first to their staff and community.
The senior royals are said to give about 1,500 Christmas puddings to the staff alone. Normally, the puddings all come from Fortnum and Mason, which is also available for anyone who wants to purchase and taste the treat.
Alongside the Christmas treats, over 750 Christmas cards from the royal family are being sent back to the public. The cards are said to include a picture of the family.
Upon arriving in Sandringham, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip also "present local schools" with Christmas trees. This tradition was started by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, as stated by the report.
About Christmas trees, it was revealed that the queen always decorates the palace's trees personally. The Duke of Edinburgh even accomplishe some of the "final touches".
During Christmas Day, the dinner is said to never change its course menu. As it happens, the royal family is just like any other family who loves to have a turkey in the middle of the table.
But, before any of these traditions executed by the queen, her annual Christmas speech is said to be recorded first in Buckingham Palace. As per Express UK, the broadcast was started by King George V in 1932. Since then, Queen Elizabeth II always deliver and broadcast a message to every family in the United Kingdom.
The speech typically contains a warming message to uplift the Christmas season in every household further. While being warm and joyful amid the holiday festivities, it was pointed out by the reports that the queen also includes a brief look back on what happened in the past few months.
Many are convinced that this year's Christmas broadcast will be something to look forward to. This is because a lot of individuals, even royal experts, and correspondents, deem 2019 as Queen Elizabeth II's another "worse year."
