The Duchess of Sussex has been dubbed as a Hollywood royalty by the media, but Stefanie Powers, who is also an actress, has some strong feelings about it. While speaking with The Daily Beast, the friend of Prince Charles said that Prince Harry’s wife is not a good actress.
Stefanie Powers pointed out that the title doesn’t suit well for Meghan Markle since she only had one role on television.
“Meghan’s role is not about being a star. Those headlines saying she was Hollywood royalty marrying British royalty... She had a role in a TV show. Please, she’s obviously not a great actress,” Powers said. “She’s not gotten into the role she has taken on. Grace Kelly did (when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco), but then she was Hollywood royalty—not a bit player in a minor television series. It’s her job to be Harry’s wife, not change the royal dynamic.”
After learning about Stefanie Powers’ criticism, fans of Meghan Markle came to her defense. Many said that it wasn’t the Duchess of Sussex’s intention to change the royal dynamic at like the Hart to Hart alum claims.
“Meghan Markle isn't in the royal family distract from other Royal family members. She's not there to be a villain or saint. She's not there to be a poster child for US or UK race relations. She's there because she loved a man & wanted to spend the rest of her life with him,” one netizen wrote. “You’re a C-list actress yourself so you shouldn’t try to shade Meghan’s career,” another one shared.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is constantly being criticized after she tied the knot with Prince Harry last year. But, the bashing became even more intense when she shared about her struggles with life in the spotlight as people saw it as complaining and her being spoiled.
During an interview with Tom Bradby, the anchor asked Meghan Markle about the impact of public scrutiny on her. The Duchess of Sussex, then, replied, “thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I'm OK. But it's a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
Although Meghan Markle said some valid points, a lot of netizens were not impressed at all. Instead of receiving some sympathy, she was bashed even more for it.
