Princess Diana was every bit of a princess that everyone wanted and still wants. She was beautiful inside and out, and she made everyone feel special and worthy of her time.

However, Princess Diana was not always a pro when it comes to being a member of the royal family. In fact, during her first Christmas with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and other senior royals, the Princess of Wales reportedly committed a huge mistake.

“Princess Diana was obviously not briefed of this little quirk of the royals,” royal author Claudia Joseph said in the documentary Sandringham: The Queen at Christmas. “She gave Princess Anne a cashmere jumper thinking that that was a suitable present for her sister-in-law. And in exchange, she received a loo-roll holder!”

As it turns out, the royal family is not all serious during the Christmas festivities and prefer to give each other some jokey gifts. They even try to out-do each other every year to see who gave the most hilarious present.

This has been a tradition to the royal family, but Prince Charles failed to inform Princess Diana, who gave Princess Anne a serious present at the time. But then the Princess of Wales made it up the next year and gave Sarah Ferguson a leopard print bathmat as her funny Christmas gift.

Meanwhile, royal author James Whitaker revealed in his book “Diana v. Charles” that Princess Anne and Princess Diana were not fans of each other. “I just don’t like her. She may be wonderful doing all the charity work for Save the Children and others, but I can do it as well,” Prince Charles’ former wife said.

In the documentary “Paxman on the Queen’s Children,” royal expert Richard Kay explained that Princess Anne didn’t like how Princess Diana did her thing back then. The Princess Royal wasn’t fond of how the People’s Princess did her royal duties and how she promoted herself.

It’s quite clear that the public didn’t share the same opinion as Princess Ann as Princess Diana was one of the most, if not the most, well-loved members of the royal family. Despite her failed marriage to Prince Charles, the popularity of Princess of Wales didn’t suffer at all.

Prince Charles started dating Princess Diana in 1980. A year later, they got married at St Paul's Cathedral, which was described as a “fairytale wedding.”

In 1993, Prince Charles and Princess Diana officially announced their split. A month after, a set of tapes came to the surface to confirm the allegation of the future king and Camilla Parker Bowles’ affair.
