Prince Charles and Princess Diana had a disastrous marriage, which is why they eventually ended up in Splitsville. However, their relationship wasn’t always sad and gloomy, as they also had their share of playful moments.
In fact, an unearthed video showed Prince Charles and Princess Diana having a fun time at the expense of the future king. When the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Pinewood Studios in 1986 to see the making of The Living Daylights, the new James Bond film at the time, they tested out one prop.
The prop bottle, which was made to look like glass, was actually made of synthetic sugar. Knowing that it wouldn’t hurt, the men surrounding Prince Charles and Princess Diana were urging the latter to hit her husband with it in the head — and she obliged.
In the video, Princess Diana would be seen holding the glass bottle prop, ready to hit Prince Charles in the head. However, her expression clearly showed that she was very hesitant to do so. The Prince of Wales, who appeared to be holding another prop, turned his back on his wife, anticipating the attack.
Probably feeling the pressure and realizing that there was no turning back, Princess Diana hit Prince Charles with the prop glass bottle in the head. The Princess of Wales looked very embarrassed while the future king looked calm and had a huge smile on his face. The people around them then burst into laughter and clapped for the royal couple for being a good sport.
Although Prince Charles and Princess Diana appeared to be having such a good time in the video, everybody knew that the future king’s one true love is Camilla Parker Bowles. He met her in 1971 at a polo match in Windsor and they instantly fell in love.
Camilla Parker Bowles was on an on-and-off-again relationship with army officer Andrew Parker Bowles when she fell for Prince Charles. She, eventually, got married to Andrew in 1973, and Prince Charles started dating Diana in 1980.
A year later, Prince Charles proposed to Princess Diana and got married on July 29, 1981, at St Paul's Cathedral. However, the Princess of Wales quickly realized that the future king’s heart belonged to someone else. In 1993, the Prince and Princess of Wales officially announced their split.
Princess Diana, herself, previously, shared that Prince Charles married her because of one reason. “He’d found the virgin, the sacrificial lamb, and in a way, he was obsessed with me, but it was hot and cold, hot and cold,” she said.
