Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have reinvented divorce when they announced their separation in 2014. But they did not only changed the public perception of what a separated couple should look like but they also became an inspiration to others.

In 2014, Paltrow and Martin announced that they are taking their separate ways after 10 years of marriage. The Iron Man actress and the Coldplay frontman tried ways to keep their romance burning including therapy, but nothing worked.

In the end, they decided to end the relationship without walking away as enemies. They also received backlash after they used the phrase "consciously uncouple" in describing their separation.

"I just thought, 'I wonder if there's a way to circumvent that and just go directly to the point where we're friends'... We can pretend we're not, and hate each other ... or, let's try to reinvent this for ourselves," Paltrow told Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert.

The Shakespeare in Love actress can't understand why people turned on them for using a phrase she thought to be a "beautiful concept," But Gwyneth has a theory.

Paltrow said she might have said things that haven't been fully accepted in some cultures. She added that the phrase could have triggered a lot of people who were offsprings of bitter divorces.

Following their divorce, the former couple still includes each other in their lives in a way that most divorced couples don't. For instance, after the Shallow Hal actress married Glee co-creator Brad Falchuck, she invited Martin to their honeymoon.

The couple spent their honeymoon in the Maldives with the singer and Paltrow's two kids with Martin as well as with Falchuck's two children from his previous marriage. The actress once called their outing as a very modern honeymoon.

Just recently, Paltrow joined Martin and his girlfriend Dakota Johnson on their vacation in Aspen, Colorado. The award-winning actress was seen hitting the icy slopes with Martin and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress. The trio was also joined by Gwyneth and Chris' children, Apple, 15, and Moses, 13.

Today Paltrow and Martin are not the former celebrity couple that can be called "consciously uncouple." There are Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, and more.
