Queen Elizabeth II knows her skin and what is good on it. It was revealed that no one touches the Queen's face other than her except for one particular day in a year. Queen Elizabeth II's long-time dressmaker Angela Kelly revealed some interesting facts about the monarch that is surprisingly very relatable to ordinary people.

In her recently released book, The Other Side of the Coin: the Queen, the Dresser, and the Wardrobe, Kelly shared that the Queen does her own makeup every day even when she will attend important royal events such as weddings or the opening of the Parliament. But, there is one day in a year that she let a makeup artist do their work. It is her annual Christmas speech.

The royal Christmas message airs on Christmas Day. The tradition began in 1932 with a radio broadcast by Elizabeth's father, King George VI, on BBC. Elizabeth continued the tradition after she ascends to the throne following his father's death and the abdication of his uncle, King Edward VIII.

Since 1952, the Queen reads the message. By 1957, the broadcast became televised.

It was only in 1969 that the public did not hear a message from the Queen. It was because a special documentary film, Royal Family, was released in summer in connection with the investiture of Prince Charles. The palace decided not broadcast a Christmas message, but the Queen issued a written message instead.

Today, the Queen's annual Christmas message is broadcast on television, radio, and the internet. This year, the 93-year-old monarch is expected to deliver an important and possibly fierce Christmas message. The Queen could talk about the Brexit concern in her country and the new government that will result from the Dec. 12 snap election.

Meanwhile, royal daughters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle could have taken the "do your own makeup" habit from the Queen. It has been known that the Duchess of Cambridge did her own makeup on her wedding day with a little assistance from Bobbi Brown makeup artist Hannah Martin.

As for Meghan, her longtime pal Daniel Martin, previously, told People Magazine that the Duchess of Sussex loves makeup and she is good at putting it on by herself. A friend of Martin also told the magazine that Prince Harry's wife is "very self-service" woman when it comes to her beauty routine.

"Except for her wedding, she does all her own makeup. Dresses herself, styles herself," the friend said.
