Honeymoon for the newly-wed couples might be one of the happiest parts of marriage, but not for the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The Princess of Wales had a heartbreaking moment when she noticed her then-husband was wearing something given by Camilla Parker Bowles that ruined the celebration of their marriage.

At the time, the two were at the royal diplomatic dinner with the Egypt president Anwar Sadar and his wife. In his book Charles: A Biography, royal expert Anthony Holden relived the moment that the heart of the People's Princess broke.

Princess Diana lost her cool while entertaining their guests. Her rage started to rise when she noticed that Prince Charles dared to don jewelry that Camilla gave him. The accessory in question was a pair of gold cufflinks in the shape of two intertwined Cs, per Express.

With her anger, the future king admitted that it was a gift from Camilla. As he didn't see anything wrong with an innocent gift from a close friend, Princess Diana saw it differently.

Holden revealed that for Prince Charles to attribute Princess Diana's mood swings to the pressures of adapting her new role as his consort was "disingenuous." Her unhappiness was apparent during that time.

When they returned to Scotland from their honeymoon in Egypt, Princess Diana said that she "thoroughly recommended married life" while talking to the journalists. However, Holden revealed that it was far from the truth. The reality behind her comment was very different.

Prince Diana reportedly later said that she remembered crying her eyes out on her honeymoon. Although Prince Charles saw that something was wrong, he seemed to be confused about it.

For him, what happened was only a "blissful interlude at his favorite home," which was complete with his books, fishing rods, and friends. On the other hand, his wife, for some reason, was unable to surrender herself to his good humor.

At the time Princess Diana and Prince Charles got married, Reader's Digest reported that Camilla was already married to her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles for eight years. Anyhow, His Royal Highness still found a way to call her from the Mediterranean.

His valet Stephen Barry said in the book The Diana Chronicles that Prince Charles had to be in constant contact with Camilla, or he couldn't function properly. If he went through the day without talking to the now-Duchess of Cornwall, he would become "tetchy and ill-tempered."
